Overview

We are nationally recognized leaders in case development and litigation of Natural Resource Damage (NRDA) claims and defenses under federal and state laws. Acadia Law’s principal attorney Valerie Lee is a co-author of the only nationally recognized treatise on NRDA, The Natural Resource Damage Assessment Deskbook: A Legal and Technical Analysis, published by the Environmental Law Institute in 2004, with a second edition forthcoming in 2014. Our attorneys have over twenty years of experience in NRDA case development and litigation, and have successfully assisted in all phases and aspects of NRDA. Acadia Law’s attorneys have scientific and technical backgrounds that uniquely position us to evaluate clients’ cases and develop effective theories, and to work with experts to cost-effectively create persuasive evidence for settlement and court. Our attorneys’ depth of NRD litigation and cooperative assessment experience translates into positive results and favorable outcomes for our clients.

Acadia Law attorneys have worked on matters involving oil spills, releases of hazardous substances to air, land, and water and have provided advice on some of the largest environmental sites in the United States. We have experience addressing injuries associated with the full range of contaminants from radionuclides to non-radioactive contaminants ranging from metals to organics. Acadia Law’s attorneys help clients at sites that range from highly complicated mega sites to small sites where resolution of NRD liability would assist in property development.
